1. WHAT IS AN ELECTRIC MOTOR?

It is an electric rotating device that transforms electric energy to mechanical energy.

The electric motor supplies clean energy and therefore it does not pollute and is Noise free.

Electric motors can be fed in alternate current (electric network) or in direct current (battery). Therefore, in the case of mobile vehicles, a direct current motor is used where the energy is accumulated in batteries.

Due to technical reasons (for easy regulation of speed and better performance) the direct current motors are used even though it is possible to use an electric network system.

2. PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

The interaction between two magnetic fields causes the movement.

1. A magnet has its intrinsic field.
2. An electric wire fed with electric current produces a magnetic field.

Combining the magnetic field of the stator (produced by the magnets) and the magnetic field of the rotor ( produced by the current that flows through the windings) it causes a movement. Normally, the shaft turns, very rarely the external housing turns.
When a varible speed is needed, DC variable speed, (chopper drives) controllers can be Added.

3. HOW CAN THE MOTOR BE MOUNTED?

Directly: high rotation speed
Reduced: through a belt or a chain (pulley) or gears (gearbox)
System: in more complex applications as motorized wheels (motorwheels) or complete traction systems (transaxle systems).

When a variable speed is needed, DC variable speed, (chopper drives) controllers can be added.
